I’ve been wanting to post this for a long time.
Thursday, April 14th, 2011. RCC’s Filipinos United Presents: Relief Unplugged 2nd Verse. One of the best days in my life.
Why this day?
Well, for some who don’t know, I got to share the stage with one of the most dedicated and influential musicians that I know. We have one of my best friends, @BoobyBautista and his sister, Nikola, T.R.I.C., aReJay Ella, Michael Carreon, Alvin Ordonez, Ryan Bandong & his band, Jay Legaspi, Jenny Suk, Alexa Yoshimoto, JR Aquino, and Jesse Barrera.
This this photo, credits go to Jeremy Yabut, you see Jesse Barrera and I giving each other a high five after performing the song, “Don’t Stop Now” by The Maine.
It’s not the best photo, but this photo will create many memories for me.
This moment will forever be with me. Imagine playing your favorite song made by your favorite band, singing and playing along with your favorite musician and a major influence in your life, this was my moment. It was an honor to perform side by side with Jesse Barrera, the person who influenced me in music. I thank you Jesse for playing and singing with me to my favorite song. I love you and I hope to share the stage with you again.
Later that night, I got to hang out with these musicians. There was one point where I was really tired, so I went into my car and rested. I checked my emails and there it was, an email with the subject, “New Transfer” from Baruch College. I opened it up and it said, “Dear Transfer Student: Congratulations on your Admission to Baruch College for the Fall of 2011 Semester!”
There. After getting rejected to number of schools, attending RCC for 2 years, getting rejected to Baruch the first time, sending in appeals to their admissions office, after feeling that I was a failure, I finally got into the college I wanted to go to.
I called my girlfriend, texted my dad, and called Tim about the news. I couldn’t be more proud of myself. I went back in and announced the news to everyone and @wetseason gave me the best hug of the night and I had a burst of happiness. I will remember the words he told me, “Your are having the best day of your life right now. You can not be more happier right now. I love you bro.”
In conclusion, Thursday. April 14th, 2011. One of the best days of my life. Getting accepted to college, chilling with friends, chilling with beloved musicians, and performing along with your hero.
